 Delicious Cajun Shrimp Pasta Recipe

Easy Cajun Shrimp in Creamy Tomato and Garlic Sauce!

Shrimp is one of my favorite foods, and I always have some quick and easy recipes featuring them. With Mardi Gras around, I dug out a Cajun-style shrimp pasta recipe with a creamy tomato sauce.

Delicious Cajun Shrimp Pasta Recipe: Quick and Easy Creamy Tomato and Garlic Sauce!

Here's how you make it:

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 teaspoon Cajun seasoning
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1/2 red bell pepper, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, chopped
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (or dry white wine)
  • 8 ounces pasta (like linguine)
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup Parmigiano Reggiano (Parmesan cheese), grated
  • 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped

Directions:

  1. Start by boiling a large pot of water.
  2. While waiting for the water to boil, heat oil and melt butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add shrimp seasoned with Cajun seasoning and cook until done, about 1-2 minutes per side. Set aside.
  3. Add diced onion to the pan and cook until tender, about 5-7 minutes. Then add red pepper and cook for another 3 minutes.
  4. Add garlic and cook until it smells good, about a minute.
  5. Pour in the broth, scraping up any brown bits from the pan with a wooden spoon.
  6. Cook the pasta in the boiling water until al dente, about 7-9 minutes, and then drain.
  7. Meanwhile, add tomatoes, cream, Cajun seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce to the skillet. Bring it to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer.
  8. Add the grated cheese and cook until it melts into the sauce.
  9. Drain the pasta, toss it with the sauce and shrimp, and garnish with parsley.

Option: Add 1 tablespoon lemon juice to the sauce at the end.
